Mission statement
As a young lawyer, skimming through a new regulation that affects your industry or impacts a client’s business is quite a task. Especially when you have several emails unanswered, court sittings to attend, and client updates to send (thank God I said bye to that life sometime in 2019, whew).
On good days, you might get lucky; somebody already wrote about it (thank you Mondaq, Lexology, and those top-firms updates that come in handy). On the not-so-good days, you may have to go over every new regulation with all the meticulousness that goes into picking beans (you don’t want to miss a section of the new law and have the Partner yelling at you for God knows what- BTDT).
I understand that, and I want to reduce the burden as best as I can. So the mission is to make the Newsletter simplify new regulations as much as possible, pointing you in directions you should look at, in the freest formatting possible, hence the gist-like reads.
That's my goal.
How it all started
Interesting story, I’ve always thought about this kind of Newsletter since I started my career in a small boutique firm at Ikoyi in 2018. However, I never came around to starting it - the life of a young lawyer can be really tough, send us money - thankfully, I have more time on my hands now and a tweet from my friend was the necessary jumpstart I needed to get to this again. Hopefully, it sticks this time.
